Happy Independence Day and Happy Canada Day!

The Ultimate in Safety, Service and Satisfaction

Now that summer is upon us, it’s just about that time of year when people in Canada and the United States celebrate some very significant dates in their countries’ histories. Canada Day occurs on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, and Americans will be celebrating Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Since we at Griffin Transportation have customers here in Vancouver as well as in nearby areas in the U.S., we can’t help being excited about both of these important holidays.

These dates honor major turning points in the two nations’ histories, which is why we spend so much time and attention on our celebrations. Since the holidays occur early in the summer when many folks are looking forward to taking some time off, people will make an extended weekend out of it whenever possible.

In Canada this year, it means you will take off Thursday and Friday, since the holiday occurs mid-week. In the U.S., citizens will take off Friday for a three-day weekend, while the more fortunate ones will continue partying through Monday for a well-deserved four-day vacation.

People love getting together in Canada to commemorate the date when the colonies of British North America, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the Province of Canada joined together to create a new federation comprised of four provinces on July 1, 1867. The fourth province was created when the Province of Canada split into Ontario and Quebec, noted an article at the Successful Contractor. Fireworks, picnics and other outdoor events dominate the proceedings as citizens gather to celebrate Canadian’s rich history and diversity.

In the United States, citizens will gather to celebrate the day when the original 13 colonies declared their independence from England in the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. People in the U.S. convene in enormous celebrations in their communities, enjoying music and food as they await the culmination of the day with a blast of fireworks exploding in the sky.

Of course, the American holiday is commonly referred to as the Fourth of July. You can expect to hear plenty of patriotic music as citizens gather in the U.S., sharing traditional food like hotdogs and hamburgers during picnics and outdoor barbecues.

The similar ways that people in Canada and the United States celebrate these two holidays around the same time every year underscores the friendship between the two countries. It also calls attention to their common heritage of forging their own national identity during their early history. We’re glad that the United States and Canada get along so well and we are happy that these holidays take place each July.

The team at Griffin Transportation wants to wish our loyal customers in Canada and the U.S. a happy and safe Canada Day and Independence Day. If you are planning to go out with family and friends to celebrate either holiday, why not leave the driving to us? You can relax and enjoy yourself while a professionally trained chauffeur takes care of the transportation, so you can focus on the festivities.
